Mayweather, Pacquiao Problem

Floyd Mayweather’s legal problems are long, almost endless. His problems don’t end with his 90 day jail sentence for pleading guilty to a misdemeanor battery domestic violence case. Yesterday, his attorneys completed the second part of the plea deal, to one Mayweather pleaded no contest, resulting in a fine of $1000 for a scuffle with a security guard back in November 2010.
More? There’s the defamation lawsuit between Pacquiao and Mayweather, pending in federal court. Mayweather suggested he suspects Manny Pacquiao has been using performance enhancing drugs, something that always comes up after Pacquiao beats a bigger fighter or moved up the division ladder. He’s never been found positive in a test, and the timing of the blood testing and their style (boxing regulations or Olympic regulations) caused the previous Mayweather-Pacquiao talks to collapse.
More? Finally, Mayweather is facing a civil lawsuit, again in Las Vegas, from two men who claim Mayweather organized a shooting attack on them back in 2009. The Police have never accused Mayweather of the crime and he has never been criminally charged for the incident.

"The sentence will raise the profile of the fight (against Pacquiao)," Bunce opined, adding that Mayweather's incarceration will leave the fighter with "fewer options."
"(Incarceration) will force him and his people to the negotiating people," he added.
Bunce admitted that the Pacquiao-Mayweather mega-fight has been "tarnished by time, dodgy decisions, Pacquiao's dip in form, Mayweather's sucker punch, and now, Mayweather's incarceration."
He believes, however, that the fight will "inevitably happen," and it will break the financial record that Mayweather set when he fought and defeated Oscar De La Hoya in May 2007.

Mayweather spent two nights at the Clark County jail in downtown Las Vegas after an arrest in the domestic violence case and one night in jail after the poking incident.
Mayweather's lawyers have said they may ask the judge who sentenced Mayweather in the domestic violence case to reconsider the 90-day jail term, but Winckler declined comment after Friday's hearing for the other case.
Judge Melissa Saragosa sentenced Mayweather to six months in the Clark County jail but suspended half the term. She gave him credit for three days previously served and ordered him to complete 100 hours of community service, pay a $2,500 fine and complete a yearlong domestic violence counseling program.
Mayweather and Pacquiao have a defamation lawsuit pending in federal court in Las Vegas stemming from statements by Mayweather that he suspects Pacquiao took performance-enhancing drugs.

Now fans are wondering if the Mayweather jail time was the reason the fight wasn’t inked, or just another excuse for the fight never to happen. While Arum is no longer talking about the fight anymore, ironically his camp is now talking about other fights. After all assurances to fans and news were that the Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao 2012 fight was Arum’s top priority, suddenly more than a handful of other fights are already being pursued by Arum, claim reports.
Fans have waited for this fight for an entirety. But the inability of the fight to be consummated seems, in the words of Yogi Berra, like déjà vu all over again.
IBF/WBA junior welterweight title winner Lamont Peterson has an offer to fight Amir Khan. But now Peterson and Freddie Roach are both claiming that a Pacquiao vs. Peterson 2012 fight might happen next. But does anyone want to see a Pacquiao vs. Peterson fight when they were waiting for a Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight?
