LeBron James engaged with Savannah Brinson in New Year's Eve

"It was beautiful," Heat teammate Chris Bosh said. "I told him, 'Good luck.' It was nice. It was real nice."
A representative for James confirmed the news to The Associated Press on Sunday morning, a few hours after close friend Chris Paul and Heat owner Micky Arison were among those tweeting their congratulations.
James popped the question at a party to celebrate both New Year's Eve and his 27th birthday, which was Friday. Heat teammate Dwyane Wade was in charge of holding the ring until the big moment, and a group of about 50 guests toasted the happy coup

James, who turned 27 on Friday, passed up the opportunity to propose in a Jim Gray special. Instead he went the more traditional route, popping the question at a bash attended by the couple’s sons, 7-year-old LeBron Jr. and Bryce, as well as James’ Miami Heat teammates Dwyane Wade (with girlfriend Gabrielle Union) and Chris Bosh, rapper Nas and Gloria James, his mother. James and Brinson have been a couple since James’ playing days at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio.
A wedding date was not announced. Nor is there any information about a ring for Brinson. (Perhaps Pat Riley could help him there; he has some experience with rings.)

Afterward, the happy couple counted down to the New Year to the tunes of Lauryn Hill, in the company of plenty of other bold-faced names, including Queen Latifah, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and model Jessica White. Nas even took to the stage to sing with Hill in a surprise performance, according to an insider.
James and Brinson, who have been together since James' days at St. Vincent-St. Mary HS in Akron, Ohio, were showered with well-wishes by their friends on Twitter shortly after the ball dropped.

James and Brinson are the parents of two sons.
"I had no idea it was coming," Bosh said. "I just heard some commotion, and yeah, there it was.
It was nice. It was real cool."
