Indy 500 Live Stream is scheduled on May 27 2012
The 2012 Indy 500 has been a wild one through the first quarter of the race, as the lead has changed hands over 10 times in the first 50 laps.
Florida resident Ryan Hunter-Reay started out fourth but currently sits in 11th after taking a pit stop at lap 45.
The lead has changed on a lap-by-lap basis as no driver has been able to separate themselves from the field, however Marco Andreti leads all drivers in laps in the top spot. After starting out in the Pole, Ryan Briscoe has fallen out of the lead but currently sits in fourth.
There has been one caution, as Bryan Clauson blew a tire and spun out. He is now 19 laps behind the pace. Jean Alesi and Silmona de Silvestro saw their days come to an early end for not meeting the 105 rule which states that drivers must be withing 105 percent of the best driver's time.

Ed Carpenter's scrape with the wall in turn four has brought out the caution flag as the conclusion of the 2012 edition of the Indianapolis 500 nears its conclusion. With just 20 laps remaining, Dario Franchitti has secured the lead from Scott Dixon in a hot and heavy race with constant lead changes and pit stops aplenty.
Carpenter's scrape with the wall did no relevant damage and is now at the back of the pack. Unfortunately, Carpenter was performing admirably, as he was in 4th place at the time of the spin-out. The rest of the field now moves up and will furiously try and catch Franchitti. Dixon, Takuma Sato, Tony Kanaan trail the leader with just a few precious laps remaining.
