Delonte West with Lakers Rumors

Lakers Rumors: Delonte West Should Be No-Brainer Addition for LA

Since being waived by the Dallas Mavericks over a month ago, after a slew of internal disputes, West has flown under the radar, to the point where he has yet to find a new home. But Los Angeles can change this.
Though West is one of the league's most tumultuous personalities, he's also a perfect fit for what Los Angeles currently lacks on the hardwood, and he's a perfect fit for Mike D'Antoni's offensive system.
Currently, the Lakers sit at a horrid 9-13, find themselves out of the playoff picture and are fresh off an inexcusable road loss to the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers. They also rank 14th in defensive efficiency and are allowing 98.8 points per contest, the 12th-most in league.

Delonte West Rumors - Lakers Considering Adding Point Guard
The Lakers have been going with Chris Duhon and Darius Morris at the point, but they combined for just two points and three assists tonight. Free agent options appear to be limited, as the Wizards, also in need of a point guard, took a pass on Ben Uzoh and Blake Ahearn after working out both of them this weekend. Delonte West, Mike Bibby and Eddie House are among some of the more notable names available. Bibby and House have both played for Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni with other teams, but neither saw much time running the offense.
The trade market could be a more fruitful route, particularly once most free agents who signed this summer become eligible to be traded on Saturday. As part of a package that involves Pau Gasol, the Lakers have been linked to Jose Calderon, who acknowledges that he's on the block. That would represent a drastic move, however, and would probably be overkill if Nash can return later this month. Calderon's $9.7MM salary figure would prevent anyone from acquiring him unless they were willing to give up a lot, as fellow ESPNLosAngeles.com scribe Arash Markazi points out via Twitter, and the Raptors point man has a 10% trade kicker on top of that. While the Lakers may be exploring their options, the team may simply conclude that it must patiently try to sort out its difficulties until Nash returns.

Lakers Rumors: Lakers Interested in Signing Delonte West
There’s no question with Nash at 38 years-old and Steve Blake not exactly a dependable option at point guard that West would be used at both positions. Along with the ability to light up the scoreboard in bunches, West also can stretch the defense with his outside shooting.
Last season, West averaged 9.6 points and 3.2 assists per game for the Dallas Mavericks. Not only is West another player that will help cure the offensive problems off the bench along with Jamison, but he can be force from distance with an impressive 37.2% career average from three-point land.
The only problem the Lakers may face in an attempt to sign West is whether or not he’s willing to take the veteran’s minimum. Obviously, no team is knocking down West’s door with lucrative contract offers at this point in time, but doesn’t mean the Mavs or another interested won’t ultimately give West an offer that intrigues him.
