3 Year Agreement, Alex Smith With 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers, after having lost the raffle Peyton Manning, Alex Smith have re-signed for a three year agreement, Michael Lombardi NFL Network reported Tuesday. Alex Smith had reportedly visiting the Miami Dolphins on a free-agent visit, but in the end decided not to let pride get in the way of returning to the team that made him No. 1 overall in the 2005 draft. Smith has been conducted by Niners in the NFC Championship last year, the first time they have reached the playoffs in his career.
The agreement of financial data were not disclosed, but ESPN's Chris Mortensen said that the deal is approximately $ 8 million per year, which, if paid in full, is about $ 1 million more in total compared to that of Seahawks Matt Flynn previously paid for the effort. Smith has had very few options after Flynn and signature of the Dolphins back up David Garrard starter Matt Moore.
Smith broke out under the head of the technician Jim Harbaugh in 2011 after five seasons often disappointing. He threw for 3144 yards and 17 touchdowns with only five interceptions. He led the Niners a dramatic comeback victory over the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional Playoff in January.
