Éver Banega Will be Out for Six Months Cause Injuring by [not in game] His Own Car
There aren't many names that spring to mind when trying think of people who have ran themselves over with their own car. In fact, Off the Ball can only think of one, former East 17 singer Brian Harvey, but now there's another: Valencia midfielder Ever Banega.
It happened last Saturday. Valencia midfielder Éver Banega filled his car with petrol and went into the shop to pay. There was just one problem, he had left the handbrake off. When he came out, his car was rolling away. So he tried to stop it the way a footballer stops a ball , with his foot. The car crushed his ankle, breaking his fibula. Banega was operated on and although the operation was a success, he will be about of action for six months. Let's be honest, at first it was funny. But when the news hit, you just felt desperately sorry for him. Six months, for goodness' sake. And all because he forgot to leave the handbrake on.
But while Harvey's misfortune, and serious injuries, were caused by a jacket potato (don't ask, just Google it) Banega has only himself to blame.
The 23-year-old had already been left out of the Valencia squad to visit Barcelona in La Liga on Sunday as he is struggling with a knee problem.
